Pools aren’t just useful for cooling down and entertaining friends and family. They are also great to use for exercise and keeping fit, no laps required!
Below are some great workout ideas for anyone looking to use their pool for fitness purposes.
Cross Knees to Elbows
While standing, bring one elbow to the opposite knee to work your core and abs. If possible, do this in a deeper pool and jump up to reach your knees to achieve a more intense workout.
In a standing position with your chest and shoulders back, bring your knees up to your chest and back down to the ground. For added intensity, perform this while treading water.
Lie back in the water with a pool noodle under your shoulders and pull your abs in to perform a crunch.
ARMS & SHOULDERS
Noodle Press Down
Hold the pool noodle in front of you and push it down under the water to touch your legs and then back up above the surface to work your shoulders.
Push your arms against the edge of the pool until they are fully extended and then lower yourself back closer.
Have your back to the edge of the pool and hold onto it with both hands. While keeping your elbows in, lift your body up above the water and then back down again
Double Leg Lift
Lean back on the pool edge and begin to repeatedly lower and then raise your legs as high as you can.
Hold onto the edge of the pool and kick your legs rapidly behind you under the water
Stand with your feet at hip width, squat down deep in the water and then jump up into the air for an effective glutes workout.
