Scum Line – Preventing and Spa Cleaning

A line of scum is not a pretty sight on any spa or plunge pool.

Oils are one of the biggest sources and it comes from bathers ourselves. Deposits and build up from body fats, dead skin cells, sunscreens, deodorant and hair products can all contribute to a scum line. Although not always practical, showering before jumping in the spa can help prevent this kind of scum line.

A spa cleaning disc can reduce oils that float on the surface of the water; it’s a great little accessory as it works on its own by floating and collecting matter around the spa. As bonus it can also improve the filter performance.

The best product to use to clean the oil ring is Squeaky Clean. It breaks down oils and enables you to wipe away any scum line more easily. Most importantly it is compatible with your spas water chemistry,.

Directions for use:

1. Spray or apply to a damp sponge or soft brush and scrub spa surface at the waterline.
2. Rinse treated surfaces thoroughly.
3. To remove heavy stains, allow cleaner to soak on the stain for 5-10 minutes before scrubbing and rinsing.
