Exercising in your spa is pleasant and easy. Warm water offers a relaxing way to preform water exercises. Some Arthritis Foundation’s recommend water exercises for arthritis patients for relieving pain and building muscles.
A fantastic benefit to warm water exercising is that your body will find greater mobility with water providing buoyancy to your body. Buoyancy aids the body to relax more easily and keep your joints and muscles moving without strain or pressure.
Your spa or swim spa can provide workouts to help you get fit. Here are some great exercise ideas:
– Legs: warm up by moving your legs up and down. Project your right leg and then bring your right knee back in the direction of your body slowly. Make your leg straight till your knee is locked and repeat. Try 10 repetitions with each of your legs for 3 sets.
– Abdominal: take a seat in the spa and begin deep breathing slowly. Contract your tummy muscles while exhaling. They key for this exercise is to go slow, try out 5 repetitions and then increase to 3 sets of 10.
– Shoulder & Neck: stand in your spa and lower your shoulder under the water gradually. Turn your shoulders backward and forward for 5 times slowly. Try 3 sets of 10. You have to move your neck from one side to another by keeping your shoulders under the water.
You can also work on your core muscles by preforming some yoga in your spa. Here is a great video example:
If you own a swim spa, try working out by swimming or jogging against the current for the swim spa jets. The resistance provides a great workout for endurance training.
After completing any warm water workout ensure you take your seat, and let your body relax. Try breathing in and out slowly to bring your heart rate back down. Be sure to drink lots of water after to keep well hydrated.
