We make effort to ensure our spas water chemistry is in the OK range, but what about the pipes? Over time a spas plumbing can build up and become coated with slime and grime that can eventually begin to affect our spa water. It is important to flush out and clean the spa plumbing to minimise contamination and ensure the water is crystal clear.
Signs Your Spa pipes need a clean…
If you notice slime forming in the spa water or if the water becomes cloudy and has a musty odour, this could indicate it’s time to flush out the pipes.
Cleaning Your Spas Plumbing – Important steps to remember
A pipe cleaner should be used just before you plan to drain and refill your spa. Refilling your spa with fresh water without cleaning the pipes will reduce the life of your spa water and will require more chemical usage to maintain water clarity.
We recommend the known and trusted product Swirl Away. It is a specially formulated to remove waste and build up in spas and their plumbing. As bonus it also works to prevent build-up in plumbing lines and jets, breaks down body oils and other organic wastes and prevents re-deposition of solids in pipes.
How to Use Swirl Away
1. Before emptying your spa add the recommended amount to your spa (see back of bottle for details)
2. Turn on your spa pumps to circulate the solution and let your spa run for approximately 1 hour
3. Remove filters, rinse (or soak in FilterBrite) and let dry
4. Resume your normal maintenance procedures
Swirl away is a unique cleaning formulation that is suitable for all spas and even spa baths. It will ensure optimum performance of your spa and plumbing systems.
